Under full sail, the schooner "Serenity" arrived at Urbanna Harbor.   The Town of Urbanna and the 65-foot schooner have partnered to bring a unique sailing experience to the area. Serenity currently offers afternoon and sunset cruises on the Rappahannock River on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Serenity, with a14-foot beam (width) and full keel makes it a smooth and stable ship for passengers, said Captain Laura Lohse.  Urbanna Town Councilman Lee Chewning worked to bring Serenity to Urbanna.  Having our wonderful town marina and  a number of exciting activities that will draw guests to visit for a weekend or more is the key to our revitalization, he said. "Serenity will be an important link in that whole process.....

It is only 40 miles from the Inn at Urbanna Creek to Reedville Va. where the Chesapeake Breeze departs for Tangier Island.  Plenty of time for a great breakfast before heading out for Tangier island.

Alliance prepares in November for her offshore voyage each year to the Caribbean.  She departs Virginia shortly after Thanksgiving to sail to the Virgin Islands. She will offer weekly charters in the British Virgin Islands during December and January, and then will sail to Panama to finish the winter charter season in the San Blas Islands. 

Whether you set the sail, take the helm or simply relax and enjoy the wind in your hair, a voyage on the Schooner Alliance will be an experience to remember. Captains Greg and Laura Lohse met at sea as part of a teaching crew and have been sailing tall ships together since 1988. 

Setting sail on the "Alliance" is a true adventure for landlubbers.  They experience life on a tall ship. It's waking up to a great breakfast as day breaks with the smell of salt air as warm breezes blow, The tranquility of the sea awaits you on the "Schooner Alliance".  Who could ask for more?
